Daniel Sturridge Ready To Make First League Start

Daniel celebrates stunning equaliser against Chelsea
After making an impressive start to the season, which included six consecutive wins, Liverpool have lost a bit of momentum as they've failed to win their last four matches in all competitions. They play Huddersfield Town this weekend hoping to put an end to their winless run.

However, they might have to do so without four first team regulars as Mohamed Salah could miss out due to injury while Naby Keita is set to spend some time on the sidelines. Senegalese forward Sadio Mané and Virgil van Dijk are also doubts for this weekend's clash but could still feature against Huddersfield.

If Salah can't start this weekend it could pave the way for English forward Daniel Sturridge to make his first start in the league and Liverpool couldn't have asked for a better replacement.

Despite playing mostly off the bench for Jurgen Klopp's men the 29 year-old has scored four goals in nine appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season. Sturridge's tally of four goals makes him the joint goal scorer for the Reds alongside Mané.

After facing a frustrating time due to a number of injuries Sturridge insists he is now ready to get his Liverpool career back on track.

Speaking to Liverpool's website Sturridge expressed his delight in his current position at the club.

'I'm feeling amazing so I can't really complain. I can have no complaints. I'm just excited for the next month coming up and hopefully we can get some good results in that month.

'Whatever the manager feels is best for the team. Whoever's the right players to play, will push ourselves to the limit. We've got a great squad so you've just got to be ready to give your all, give your everything, to push yourself to the limit.

'So, however many minutes you get, whether you're starting or you're coming off the bench, you want to support the team as best as possible and help them be successful.'

Speaking regarding their game for this weekend Sturridge expects Huddersfield to push them hard and is wary of the dangers of complacency especially coming off the international break.

'I think it will be tough. The games are always difficult off the back of international breaks: players are tired, they've travelled, the week's not as long in terms of we can't do as much tactical work as we would usually do throughout the week,'

'We never will underestimate any team. People will say we're favourites but we're going into this game and we're both on the same playing field. It's the Premier League, so every team is strong in this league.'
